if you work in an environment like mine leaving your desktop unlocked while you’re away from your desk is fraught with colleague danger. This project intro’s a new CodePlex project to build your very own auto lock for any blue-tooth enabled Vista PC. Comparable products exist on the market - but this is all free, just add a little of your time.
Kudos to JB for finding it

I caught a documentary on Fletcher Jones this afternoon. Fantastic piece on the birth and growth of Fletcher Jones from Hawker to national manufacturing brand. The docco ended with a great quote I wanted to capture.
A passerby saw three men cutting stone at a building site. “What is it you’re doing?” he said to the first. “Can’t you see, I’m cutting stone.” he replied. “I’m working for the basic wage.” said the second. And the third man, with shiny eyes answered, “I’m helping to build a Cathedral.”
Well we’ve been blessed with more than our fair share of Cathedral builders in what otherwise could have been a pretty mundane sort of business.
Brilliant!

To access the hidden feature, open Google Earth and hit Command+Option+A (note it must be capital A) or Ctrl+Alt+A if you’re using a Windows Machine.

Some time in front of reader this week means I’ve had some toys to play with tonight. The coolest and most frustrating all at once has been Last.fm
Essentially I think I care about it as a recommendation engine. It’ll monitor whatever I watch on iTunes (including the iPod) and make recommendations for other tunes I might like. Cool eh? Right now it’s processing my backlog of iTunes listening history.
So the other new cool feature it has is “audio fingerprinting” eventually they’ll build a massive library of hashed mp3’s and be able to clean up the tags on your tunes by letting the cloud pull the data with the “fingerprint” as the key. So far the biggest contributor has submitted 12k tracks - I’m trying to be smarmy and out rank everyone with 17k of clean tracks - but so far I get the box at right after 100 tracks :(

Now this could be one of the coolest services I’ve come across. Unfortunatley they’re down for maintenance at the moment so must check it out tomorrow!
Webapp Qipit turns a digital photo of a whiteboard, handwritten notes or a typed document into a PDF. Much like previously mentioned Scanr, you can email cameraphone snaps to Qipit, or upload images via email or the web site. Qipit stores up to 100 scanned documents in your account for free, where you can make them public and tag them
