Blackberry Mail by Google Client

Posted by brad on 30th May 2008

I had to wipe the curve today, I can’t tell you how long I searched for this bloody app. I’ve worked with some talented marketing types that are masters at burying the valuable information under layers and layers of waffle so only the very driven customers find what they’re after. But after today Google takes the cake!

If a blackberry client for your Google Apps account is what you’re after, point your blackberry at http://m.google.com/a and download :)

Motor Neurone Disease (MND)

Posted by brad on 22nd May 2008

This year’s MND awareness week (4-10th May) coincided with my Mother-in-law’s diagnosis with the disease. Also known as ALS and Lou Gehrig’s disease, it claims a life a day in Australia. My Mother-in-law had suffered from the disease for at least nine months, but none of her medical team were able to diagnose the disease until a week before it claimed her life. It’s amazing that a disease that is prevalent enough that most of us have heard about it could be so hard to diagnose, poignant then that it happened during the awareness week.

As soon as my Mother-in-law was diagnosed the support association sprang into action calling on the family with information and offers of support for everything from house modification, a hospital grade bedding for the house, everything that would be needed to support my Mother-in-law and her loved ones in her final months. In the end little of this was necessary, she passed away a week later without returning home.

The work the MND association does in promoting awareness, supporting sufferers and their loved ones, in funding research into the disease - it’s diagnosis and support is all incredibly valuable. The association exists through private sponsorship only, so if you haven’t concluded your charity sponsorships for this year, they would warmly receive your support.

You can read more about MND and the association here, donation details are here.
