Max came in to me on friday night to wish me happy anniversary. Poor Gab has saved for two years and it all comes down to max pulling it out of the cupboard 2 weeks early:)

A few iTunes releases ago the shared library interface changed in a way that broke XMBC interaction. Now that really sucked because if meant you couldn’t just share out your library anymore and access all your playlists from within XMBC. Instead you had to manually export the playlists out to something like winamp or MP11 and then manually save a M3U out to disk.
I started playing with the iTunes SDK a few months ago when I began thinking about how to create a mini-itx based photoframe. I’ve since learn’t all about UMPCs and Origami, and now even sideshow and pretty much what I was going to build exists for $250 in the Momento 70.
But having that knowledge I’ve smacked up (literally) a little WSH based script to run through and create M3U’s of all the iTunes playlists it finds. I write code once every 18 months, I usually spend most of my time squashing example fragments together until it magically works, but I know enough to know what I’ve written is ugly. But it works for me and you’re welcome to it.
Get it here: MakePlaylists.js
Run it from a command line as “cscript MakePlaylists.js”

Now this concept rocks, a photo frame that looks to have the same presentation specs as the fantastic philips one, however it’s a) wireless and b) supports SideShow under Vista. This means a photo frame showing RSS feeds etc over the top of your pics - how intensley cool would these be all over your house?
The I-Mate Momento 70 is the device and the site. The Engadget guys have done a great unboxing review, seems like a painful product for Joe average to soak up the grand aspects of it, but then I’m no Joe average :)

Did some research tonight and didn’t want to lose this info should I ever, ahem, need it in the future.
Super suit the accountant has confirmed all of the above is perfectly within the law so get to it he says!
Firstly you need proof that Laptops aren’t FBT’able when salary sacrificed: http://www.ato.gov.au/print.asp?doc=/content/24632.htm
Next you need to know that capital changes in the laptop value can be privatley deducted at the same time: http://law.ato.gov.au/atolaw/view.htm?docid=TXD/TD93145/NAT/ATO/00001&PiT=19930729000001
Together this spells pre-tax purhcasing of laptops, with depreciation or operating revenue loss from sale at below cost being deductible at the end of the period.
Woot!

I knew it was all going my way when I made it in to the markets for helicopter spares, and they actually had them! Gab stayed up all night making me a fantastic Superman Cake (Max called me his super hero the other week.) Thanks to everyone for coming and for all the fantastic presents. I was convinced that Gab was going to buy the Wii, I’d told her not to get it and that we’d get it in a few weeks. Then I come in the other day and she tells me she needs to check out Dick Smith for the Wii, I didn’t want to buy it right now, and certainly didn’t want to get the un-moded one! Mumabear wins the award for trickyness for not only getting the Wii from the right store, but also for packaging it inside a post-pack so it looked like my kicks, not until the box dropped open did I think it was the Wii!
Thanks to everyone for all the cool accessories and other stuff, the stink, new headphones, numchucks so gab and I can box in make-believe instead. I had a tremendous afternoon, thanks for being a part of it.
PS: Gab and I were bowling until 3am this morning, then I was up bowling with max again at 7 :)
Flickr have introduced a brand new PITA for you. If you click here to see all the pics and only see one of them its because you’re no longer logged into Flickr (they stop automatically logging you in after two weeks of inactivity) so you’ll need to log in again, click login in the top right hand corner of the flickr screen. You’ll want to bother logging in so you can see this very cute pic of The Pink One.
